A lack of public support for climate change policies, refusals to vaccinate children, and concerns about the safety of GMO foods are just a few examples of the public's and policymakers' reluctance to accept claims that are widely accepted in the scientific community. Ethics professor Kristen Intemann will examine the causes for the gap between scientists and the public and conclude with a discussion of what both scientists and lay persons can do to bridge this gap.
