Our neighborhoods are festooned with dish antennas pointed skyward. What are they pointing at? How can the GPS receiver in our phones and cars tell us where we are, anytime, anywhere? Which satellites are taking pictures of our homes from outer space? Spy movies often show stern people commanding satellites over some evil empire to watch the bad guys. Can spy satellites really do that? These are some of the questions to be explored in this program, as we discuss what is over our heads, and why satellites are so important to modern life.
