Montana's Changing Climate Online Module
Meets: Self paced online course - 2.5 hours
Location: Online - Self Pace
The course includes:
o Overview of climate science and the variables that impact climate
o Exploration of natural and manmade causes for climate change
o Trends in temperature and precipitation in Montana from past to present
o How scientists use climate models to make predictions
o Predictions for future temperature and precipitation trends for Montana
In addition, participants will learn
o Climate drivers and perspectives that are specific to farmers and ranchers
o How climate shifts might impact Montana's agricultural economy
o The variety of water uses and variation across Montana's different watersheds
o Future predictions related to snowpack, snowmelt, runoff timing and drought
o Direct and indirect effects of changes in precipitation and temperature on Montana forests
OPI/CEU: For $25, Montana teachers can earn Office of Public Instruction renewal units and working professionals can earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs). The course takes approximately 2.5 hours to complete in its entirety including an online report to verify completion.
