What is it? Who will pay for it?
Mayor Chris Mehl and former Mayor Jeff Krauss will discuss the pros and cons of creating a City of Bozeman Parks and Trails Special District. If approved, the Special District would authorize the City to levy annual assessments on real property within the city limits for the purpose of providing maintenance of City-owned or maintained parks and trails, including those currently maintained by private entities such as property owners' associations.
According to ballot information, in Fiscal Year 2021, the assessment would result in a tax bill not to exceed $90 to the owner of a 5,000 square foot lot. The assessment would rise to about $103.50 for a 5,000 square foot parcel in 2022. Thereafter, the annual assessments would be determined each year by the Bozeman City Commission.
The presentation and discussion will be held Friday March 13th from noon to 1:30p.m. in the Bozeman Public Library Community Room. The talk is part of the MSU Wonderlust Friday Forum in partnership with Bozeman Public Library Foundation. Friday Forum takes place the second Friday of each month September - May.
Chris Mehl is the Mayor of Bozeman. He has served on the City Commission for 12 years. Jeff Krauss served as Mayor of Bozeman for three terms. He served on the City Commission for 16 years.
Chris and Jeff look forward to a lively Q&A following their discussion Friday March 13th .
