Description
The Montana Ballet Company will open an in-theater technical rehearsal for its original "The Little Mermaid" exclusively for OLLI members. Artistic director and choreographer Elizabeth DeFanti reinterprets Hans Christian Andersen's tale to include messages of self-acceptance, self-truth and empowerment. Join DeFanti, composer and conductor Stefan Stern, and other artists as they provide a glimpse behind-the-scene. Learn about Mermaid's original choreography and orchestral score, hand-crafted costumes, sets, lighting and visual art.
Preludes and Performances are a collaborative program offered to OLLI at MSU and MSU Retiree Association members.
Free for OLLI at MSU members. No advance registration or ticket are required.

Elizabeth DeFanti is the artistic and executive director of the Montana Ballet Company, a nonprofit arts and education organization in its 39th annual season. DeFanti's professional dance career spans many years as a performing artist, teacher, choreographer, director and visionary. She holds degrees from Brown and Columbia Universities. She leads a dance organization that serves and gives back to the community while continually supporting the health and well-being of the whole dancer.
