• What is it and why do you need it?
2. Prospect Research
• How do you know who to ask and how much to ask them for?
• How to identify a prospect
• How to qualify a prospect
3. Grant Writing
• How do you present your case and package your proposal?
• Making your case for support: using stories and statistics effectively
• Goals, objectives and outcomes: what’s the difference and how do you write them?
• Evaluation plan: measuring the funder’s ROI
• Pre-submission: getting your grant proposal ready to send
4. Post-Submission
• Actions to take when you get the grant (and what to do if you don’t)
This workshop is designed for beginning and advanced beginning grant-writers, mainly nonprofit staff and volunteers who are writing grants to foundations. (A beginner is someone who has never written a grant; advanced beginners have written a few grants with marginal or no success).
If participants have already identified a foundation, they should bring the funder's application
guidelines to this training. Participants may also wish to bring a laptop for writing exercises.
