Marvin Lansverk, a professor in the Department of English at Montana State University, is offering this four-week class to experience, explore and analyze the power of mythology. Participants will read stories from a variety of cultures around the world, with a focus on human storytelling. In addition, the course will examine theories of myth, recurrent patterns found in different cultures, various kinds of interpretations, appearances of myth in literature and how mythology relates to ordinary life.

Marvin Lansverk
Marvin Lansverk is a professor of Eighteenth-Century British literature at Montana State University. An award-winning teacher (a 2020 Montana University System Regents Teaching Scholar), he specializes in the rise of the English novel and the Christian mystic poet William Blake. He has been teaching at MSU for 33 years (but who's counting), with interests in literary history and theory. He can be seen playing his trumpet on his roof, with MSU's One O'clock Band, Bridger Mountain Big Band and Woodsmoke Jazz. During his sabbatical in 2021-22, he worked on a book project on Jane Austen comprised of some of the material for this course.Date | Day | Time | Location |
