Description

Ever since humans have looked up into the night sky, we've wondered if there's anybody out there looking back. The talk will summarize the long search, from fanciful early speculations to sky-scanning radio signal hunts, investigations of potentially life-favorable habitats in the solar system, and the quest for Earth-like planets around other stars. Will we recognize life if we find it? How will we react if we do?

Course Takeaways

  • To provide a greater understanding of the search for life beyond the Earth.
  • To describe key philosophical questions to ponder regarding this search.
  • To spur further thinking and exploration.
