This registration is to receive OPI Renewal Units only. You will receive 9 OPI Renewal Units for the workshop. You will receive an OPI Renewal form within a week of registration. You will need to complete the form and submit to OPI. MSU does not submit any participant information to OPI.
Join us live and in-person for this event open to band directors of all grade levels and professional experience. Whether you are just out of college or a veteran conductor, we are excited to invite you to the New Music Reading Workshop on July 29 & 30 at the beautiful Big Horn Resort in Billings, MT. Thursday evening will be a jazz band reading session followed by a social hour hosted by Eckroth Music. Friday, July 30 will be a full day of concert band reading-- lunch will be provided on site. The registration fee for this entire event is $50.
Eckroth Music, in conjunction with Hal Leonard and JW Pepper, are proud to present the New Music Reading Workshop. Join educators from across Montana and read through new jazz and concert band literature under the direction of Paul Murtha. Materials will be provided in a digital format, so please bring a laptop, tablet, or other mobile smart device capable of reading score size material.

Paul Murtha
Paul Murtha will be the clinician. Composer and arranger, Paul Murtha is a native of Johnstown, Pennsylvania where he studied jazz arranging with John Morris and music theory with Richard Napolitan. A versatile composer-arranger, Paul is at ease in both professional and educational circles and is in constant demand in and around Washington, D.C. He has written extensively for some of the top high school and college marching bands in the country. From 1990 to 1996, Paul served as the Chief Arranger at the United States Military Academy Band at West Point, NY.
