This continuing education unit provides an overview of gambling and gaming disorders. Students will work autonomously through the content of this course. The content of this course will introduce students to the dynamics of gambling and gaming disorders. Specific issues that will be examined include the scope of gambling and gaming disorders, diagnosis and assessment, treatment of gambling and gaming disorders, stages of change and recovery. A case study will be utilized in order to apply the content of the course. Student evaluation will be conducted through the use of multiple choice assessments.
The course consists of 4 modules. Examinations will be conducted at the end of Modules 1, 2, and 3. You must pass each of these module exams with a 70% to move forward in the course. A cumulative final exam will be conducted at end of module 4 and will include content from all of the modules. You must obtain a 70% on the final exam to complete the course. Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a "Certificate of Completion" to submit for your 30 Continuing Education Units. Exams may be taken as many times as necessary until a 70% or higher is attained.


Continuing Education Credits:
The Montana Board of Behavioral Health requires currently licensed LAC's to obtain 15 hours of gambling/gaming and candidates seeking licensure to obtain 30 hours of training. MSU's Gambling/Gaming CEU fulfills both of these requirement areas.
