Course Administration and Procedures

Non-Credit Courses

Minimum and Maximum Enrollment

Some courses and workshops are offered contingent on enrolling a minimum number of learners. If minimum enrollment is not met, the course may be cancelled, in which case registration and any additional fees will be fully refunded. Applicants will be notified if not accepted into the course or program.

Refunds and Cancellations

Students who cancel before a course or conference begins will be assessed a minimum processing fee of $25. There will be no refunds after the course or conference begins.

Refunds on materials vary by program.

Youth programs are the exception. They have special refund policies specific to each program. Check the descriptions for more information.

ATO abides by the Montana State University policy regarding students who are called to military and/or emergency service. Under extraordinary circumstances and with appropriate documentation, ATO will refund 100% tuition or fees to learners who are delayed or disrupted by their official/emergency duties from attending as scheduled.

Waivers and Financial Aid

In accordance with Board of Regents policy, non-credit courses and programs do not qualify for veteran/faculty/staff fee waivers. Financial aid is not available for non-credit courses.

OLLI at MSU

Refunds and Cancellations

There will be no refunds for cancellations made seven (7) days or less before the program start date or after a program begins. Otherwise, a $25 processing fee for all cancellations made before a program begins will be assessed.

Some programs may have special refund policies, which will be mentioned in the specific program description details.

There are no refunds for annual OLLI at MSU memberships.

OLLI at MSU reserves the right to cancel courses due to minimum enrollment or other circumstances, in which case related fees will be refunded.

If inclement weather forces us to cancel classes, we will aim to send emails regarding weather-related cancellations at least an hour before your program time. Phone calls will not be made. On rare occasions, OLLI may need to cancel classes for non-weather-related circumstances. Should this occur, we will send emails to enrolled members.

Continuing Education Units

CEU offerings vary by program. Some conferences offer continuing education units as part of the registration fee. Some courses offer optional CEUs. A flat fee is due at time of registration and is not refundable. All CEUs are general Continuing Education Units from Montana State University. Please check with your professional association to see if they will be accepted.

Academic Credit

588-rubric Courses

To enroll in a 588 rubric course (such as EDCI 588), formal admission to Montana State University is not required. These courses fulfill professional development needs of in-service educators and are used for recertification and salary lane changes. However, you should always check with your school district before registering to make sure the course will fulfill these requirements.

Credit from 588 courses MAY NOT be used towards a degree program at Montana State University.

Non-588-rubric Courses

To enroll in academic credit courses that do not use the 588 rubric, formal admission as a degree-seeking or non-degree-seeking student is required.

Registration

Registration information is included in the online course description for each course. Full payment is required at the time of registration.

MUS tuition and fee waivers do not qualify for professional development courses offered for academic credit. If you are enrolled in other courses you must pay the full registration fee, even if you have reached the tuition cap.

If these courses might be used in a degree program, be sure to discuss approval with your academic department on your Program of Study.

Refunds and Cancellations

Students who drop a 588-rubric course prior to the start of class will receive full refunds minus a $25 administrative fee. Refunds are not provided for drops received after a course begins.
