The Silver Valley in Idaho was the world's largest producer of silver for many years. Its history contains natural disasters, management and labor conflicts, and health and safety concerns during the years of active mining for silver, zinc and lead. Today, the area is a hub for outdoor recreation, including miles of railroad tracks converted into biking trails.
