Description
Join us for a survey of early American history from the settlement of Jamestown, Virginia, through Reconstruction, which will include weekly lectures, brief historical readings and related class discussions. This engaging chronological study of United States history integrates history, art, music and multiple perspectives to convey a more complex and sophisticated portrait of America's diverse past and rich cultural heritage.
A registration in this course entitles you to enjoy the face-to-face version of An American Portrait: Part 1, 1607-1877 ONLY. It does not include any of the recordings from the pre-recorded version of the course.

Derek Strahn
Derek Strahn has an M.A. in history from MSU-Bozeman and teaches Advanced Placement U.S. History at Bozeman High School. He was the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History's Montana's Preserve America History Teacher of the Year in 2010. He has written numerous works about Montana History, including The Montana Medicine Show's Genuine Montana History, which the Great Falls Tribune called "one of the classic books every Montanan should read."Date | Day | Time | Location |
