Description
The MSU School of Music's choirs and orchestra present Carmina Burana, by Carl Orff. Join Tobin Stewart and Lukas Graf as they discuss the joys and struggles of producing a large-scale chorale and orchestral work at the university level.
Program Takeaways
Participants will learn about:- The coordination of this major work ultimately enhances music education for all music and non-music majors who are involved in the work.
- How to effectively coordinate five choirs (four MSU and one youth chorus), two orchestras and three soloists.
- The differences between smaller concerts and large-scale collaboration, and the impacts on the department and its students.

Dr. Lukas Graf is a singer, pedagogue and conductor who specializes in Somatic teaching of the voice, focusing on vowel formation, body awareness and musical interpretation. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in music from Montana State University, two Master of Music degrees in voice performance and choral conducting from the University of Colorado (CU), Boulder, and a Doctorate of Musical Arts in voice performance and pedagogy, also from CU. Dr. Graf has performed and conducted opera and musical theater in concert and in ensembles in Europe and the United States. He is currently the chorus master for Opera Montana, maintains a private voice studio and is the Worship Pastor at Connect Church, Bozeman. Dr. Graf currently teaches as a Faculty Fellow through the Honors College, directs the University Chorale, Tenor Bass Choir and holds a voice studio through the School of Music.| Date | Day | Time | Location |
