Description
The Baroque era in music saw a flourishing of virtuosity, origins of opera, extensive experimentation in instrumental writing, regional specificity and folk inspiration. The primary compositions of the era will be brought to life in the class through the larger cultural context of art, politics and everyday life in which the musicians of the day lived and worked. Classes will include a mix of lectures, recordings and live performances.

- Entertaining tales of the musicians and their works, making the music more relatable and applicable
- Working knowledge of Monteverdi, Bach, Corelli, Vivaldi, Mozart and lesser-known composers of the 17th and 18th centuries.

Carrie Krause
