Description

This course will guide students through the history of ancient Egypt in ten objects, starting with the Predynastic period, journeying through the Old, Middle and New Kingdoms, with stops along the way at the warring Intermediate Periods, and finishing with the Ptolemaic and Roman periods. Each object will be selected to represent each period's unique and informative aspects.

Tara Sewell-Lasater

Tara Sewell-Lasater is the director of the First Year Seminar at Montana State University. She earned her Ph.D. in ancient history from the University of Houston. Her research focuses on the Ptolemaic period in ancient Egypt, specifically Ptolemaic queenship, including royal women's roles in administration and society. She was previously an OLLI guest speaker in 2024 when she presented "Ptolemaic Queens as Greco-Egyptian Goddesses."
