Trout, Salmon and Angling Around the World: Reading, Collecting, Sharing and Learning About All Things Fishing
Montana State University is on its way to becoming the world's largest and most comprehensive research center on trout and salmonoids. The library at MSU is home to a vast collection of print, archival and digital works on these valuable species. The classroom sessions will examine angling in literature, art, history and culture; the threats to angling, fisheries and the world's waters; and actions you can take to help preserve fisheries and angling opportunities. If you're not an angler, don't worry. This course will have something for everyone. After all, what's more entertaining than a good fishing story?
Participants will have the opportunity to visit the library's collection during a face-to-face archive tour on Dec. 4 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 1 to 3 p.m. Individuals visit time will be decided in class.

James Thull is an associate professor and special collections librarian at the Montana State University Library. He manages MSU's Trout and Salmonid Collection. - Participants will have a better understanding of the history, culture and impact of angling.
- Participants will have a better understanding of the threats facing angling opportunities, fisheries and the world's waters and how they can take action locally and globally to help ensure those opportunities and fish populations survive for future generations.
- Participants will be aware of the library's angling collections, their scope, purpose and how they can be accessed.
