This non-credit course will introduce advanced strategies and use of technology for online instructors.
"Advanced Online Teaching" takes a practitioner's look at the art of online instruction. Using many of the current pedagogical approaches of online instruction, students in this course will be introduced to more advanced features and strategies of online instruction. These strategies include, but are not limited to, the expanded features of learning management systems; using supportive technologies such as podcasting, webinars, ZOOM and other applications; and gamification options. Course assignments include readings, and online discussion and reflection as an online instructor. Students in the course can expect a highly active, fully engaging and professionally stimulating class session each week.
The course is designed for online instructors who are teaching at the middle school, high school, community college or university level. Successful completion the "Foundations of Online Teaching" course or an equivalent course, or online teaching experience, is a prerequisite.

Teaching Assistant Instructor for MSSE
Jessi Anderson has 13 years of experience teaching grades K-12 and coaching adult learners. Through research-based best practices, she is passionate about supporting educators with implementing student-centered online and blended instruction.

Advanced Online Teaching is eligible for 27 OPI units or 2.7 CEUs. CEUs may meet professional development requirements for teachers outside of Montana. Check with the appropriate professional organization to confirm that they will accept CEUs from Montana State University. CEUs will appear on transcripts requested from the MSU Office of the Registrar.

Upon satisfactory completion of this course, students will be issued a digital badge.
