Professional Development for MT CTE Educators
Dates: June 21 - August 15, 2021
Meets: Deer Lodge 6/21-6/24 - OR - Ronan 8/9-8/10
This course will focus on updated content, delivery methods and instructor support for teaching Career and Technical Education in Montana. Participants are expected to attend all curriculum-related sessions of either the MAAE Summer Update (June 21-24) or the Industrial Technology/Technology Education Summer Update (Aug 9-10). Following the respective update conference, enrollees will work with the course instructor to develop one of the following to be shared with other enrollees: 1) a unit plan consisting of 3-5 daily lessons for an emerging topic within the discipline; 2) a 6-10 page document with outlines and descriptions for 5 student-centered active learning activities within the discipline; 3) a 6-10 page document detailing means for building and maintaining an active and healthy CTSO; 4) a 6-10 page document of essential information early career teachers should have at hand to effectively manage their program; 5) a 6-10 page document outlining a draft constitution, bylaws and tips for managing effectively either an Alumni Support group or an Advisory Council. Enrollees will have additional time following the respective update conferences to complete and submit the assignments.
