This course will explore various viewpoints on the process of aging in America. In our time together, we will examine historical, cultural, social, philosophical, psychological and physiological aspects of aging. This course incorporates a read, lecture, and discuss format, utilizing contemporary and science-based readings to explore the dynamic of "aging with grace." A sneak peek of topics include: Successful Aging: Truth or Myth?, Blue Zones: The Impact of Community on Longevity, Resiliency and Aging: The Paradox of Old Age, and the Youth Elder Gap: Is It Necessary?

Dawn S. Tarabochia is an Associate Professor at Montana State University. She completed her B.S. and M.S. at the University of Idaho in Exercise Science. She completed her Ph.D. in Health Education and Promotion and a Master's Certificate in Gerontology from the University of Utah.
