The year before Custer met Crazy Horse on the Little Big Horn, Frank Johnson established his Montana ranch. Frank, his brother Gust and their nephews came from poverty in Sweden to opportunity in America. Their first half-century is a window into Montana history, with adventure, opportunity, success, war, disaster, endurance and humor. The presentation will include some pointers on researching family history.

David Spencer was raised on a farm in southern Minnesota. He practiced law in New York City, specializing in international development in emerging economies. He recently retired to Bozeman to pursue his lifelong ambitions: ski bum and kids' baseball coach. David's family on his mother's side has ranched between Philipsburg and Drummond since the 1870s.
