Description

School teaching of English grammar often makes the subject appear dull and dreary, but in this course, you'll learn to love grammar. We'll consider hidden rules that structure English and make our utterances meaningful and where new words originate. Participants will also learn how the sounds of certain words enhance our appreciation of poetry, why English spelling is so weird, and how toddlers learn grammar without instruction. The course will also examine different dialects and pidgin and creole languages. You'll appreciate why there ain't no bad grammar and the "glamour of grammar."

Please note that ONLY the final session of this course on December 21 will be recorded.
