Ilona Popper
Ilona Popper, poet and freelance writer, has coached writers and taught writing and literature for more than forty years. She is the author of the poetry book, Break, and her poems have appeared in journals and anthologies, including the Beloit Poetry Journal and Elk River Book’s Unearthing Paradise. Ilona has written documentary scripts for Bob Landis Wildlife Films and articles about wildlife, drawn from her life at the edge of Yellowstone National Park. Her website is ilonapopper.wordpress.com.Participants will learn how to generate writing that is rich with possibility, starting from the blank page. Participants learn how to mine their own first drafts for gold and how to find the same in the writings of other students and authors. The course emphasizes close reading, creating a writing practice, and using writing as a way of discovering or thinking about something. The instructor, Ilona Popper, teaches her copyrighted method.
