Description
Protecting 200 square miles of beautiful Gallatin County and 36,000 residents, the Central Valley Fire District is an all-hazards agency that responds to structure and wildland fires, hazardous materials incidents, motor vehicle accidents, medical emergencies and more. The fire district is a combination department that deploys career and volunteer firefighters. Meet the responders, see our equipment, and learn more about our work to respond to and reduce risk to our community!
Registration is required and space is limited to 45 people.
Open to members of OLLI at MSU and MSU Retirees & Associates.
Course Takeaways
- Understand how fire protection and emergency medical services are provided to our community and the work done in between calls.
- Meet firefighters who serve our community 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and learn about the individuals behind the badge.
- Learn about some of the equipment utilized by responders in the event of an emergency, including structural and wildland firefighting gear, self-contained breathing apparatus, cardiac monitors, the jaws of life and more.

Jake Zlomie
Jake Zlomie has served as the Central Valley Fire District Fire Marshal since August 2021. He joined the fire service in 2010 and holds an undergraduate degree in fire protection and safety engineering technology and a graduate degree in public administration. As Fire Marshal, Jake manages all aspects of the district's community risk reduction programs and works to connect with our community through various programs.
