In this introductory course, you will learn valuable waterfall and agile project management methodologies and leave with the skills and techniques required to be a successful project manager. You will benefit from the instructors combined 50+ years of experience across 10 industries! We will examine real world examples that connect project management theories into actions, paired with tried-and-true management templates. Come with your questions and challenges. This course is appropriate for new project managers and those seeking to acquire project management skills.
This in-depth course covers eight modules:
- Module 1: Project Management Theory and Practice - Understand the basics of sequential project management processes, tools, and techniques.
- Module 2: Agile Theory and Practice - Gain an appreciation of the simplicity of Agile, Scrum, and Kanban, and learn when to apply them in various industries.
- Module 3: Communication and Emotional Intelligence (EI) Balance hard and soft skills and how to effectively communicate using EI and self-awareness to positively impact team collaborations and project success.
-Module 4: Requirements Elicitation - Ask the right questions to help customers discover business needs and communicate this via timely and concise requirements.
- Module 5: Scheduling - Break down complex projects into smaller tasks that can be scheduled and understood by your team and customer.
- Module 6: Planning, Managing, and Reinforcing Change - Successfully introduce and implement changes at the project and organizational level to accomplish results.
- Module 7: Monitoring and Tracking - Effectively assimilate and communicate project status, supported by tools like Microsoft Project, Slack, and Jira.
-Module 8: Lessons-learned Techniques & Class Wrap-up - Lead good retrospectives and lessons learned with a focus on continuous improvement.

Lisa Armitage is an experienced Scrum Master, Agile Coach, and Project/Program/Release Manager with a degree in industrial engineering focusing on process improvement and efficiencies. She’s spent her career studying project management theories, with her current emphasis in agile methodologies. She has experience in several industries including information technology, manufacturing, and construction. Armitage holds professional certifications in PMP, CSM, A-CSM, and PMI-ACP.
Jess Short
Jess Short is a Project Management Leader who partners with engineers, developers, businesses to solve problems. After spending nearly two decades working in telecom and computer technology organizations, she knows what motivates teams and drives results. She is currently the Director of Program Management for SaaS Compliance at Oracle and holds certifications for Project Management Professional, ITIL Foundations, and Professional Scrum Master.
Lindsey Tollefson
Lindsey Tollefson is a Program Manager at Ascent Vision Technologies where she manages projects and business operations. Tollefson has worked as a project manager in several industries including manufacturing, energy development, R&D, environmental consulting, and non-profits. She has in-depth experience in full lifecycle project management, communications, permitting, stakeholder engagement, research, business administration, and lean manufacturing. Lindsey has a master’s degree in environmental science and PMP certification.
