The Art of Wonder: Cultivating Awe Through Creative Writing

Reconnect with your creative voice and experiment with different writing forms in this three-week online course taught by Kyndra Campbell. Grounded in the belief that creativity begins with attention, The Art of Wonder invites participants to slow down, observe deeply, and rediscover the richness of the everyday as a source of inspiration.
What You'll Learn:
By the end of this three-week course, you'll leave with a renewed sense of wonder that can inform your writing and way of seeing the world. Along the way, you will:
- Experiment with composing different genres of writing, including nonfiction prose, poetry, and short stories
- Transform observation and lived experience into vivid, reflective writing
- Practice using language intentionally, employing imagery, metaphor, voice and rhythm to deepen meaning across genres
- Revise creative work thoughtfully, refining structure, tone, and clarity to strengthen impact and coherence
How You'll Learn It:
This course is held entirely online, with both live and asynchronous components.
Live class will be held virtually via Webex every Wednesday from 5:30 - 7:30pm, MDT. During class, you'll be invited to participate in guided exercises and share your work with peers.
In between classes, you'll engage asynchronously via Canvas. Activities include short readings, writing and revision exercises, discussions, and reflection.
Who Should Attend:
This course is designed for adult learners of all ages and experience levels who are drawn to creative expression. Whether you're seeking personal growth, a return to writing, or a chance to deepen your creative craft, you will find a supportive, inclusive environment here. No prior experience or formal training in creative writing is required.
What You'll Need
You will need a computer, tablet, or smartphone with access to Wi-Fi and a free version of Webex installed. You're also encouraged to have a journal or paper with writing utensils available.

Instructor
Kyndra Campbell is a writer, educator, and creative thinker whose work centers on curiosity, language, and the power of attention. She is pursuing her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership at the University of Montana, where she studies the power of narrative and the promise of literacy in education. Kyndra serves as Department Chair at Gallatin College, Montana State University, where she leads writing and humanities programs and teaches courses in writing and learning strategies. With over a decade of teaching experience across K-16 education, she is passionate about helping others find their voice and see writing as a lifelong practice rooted in wonder, reflection, and meaning.
